Our Story
The Rose Feather Coop began with Amanda and David's love for chickens and their passion for raising rare and hardy breeds. What started as a small backyard hobby, grew into a focused breeding program, dedicated to quality, preservation, and care. The first rare breed we fell in love with was the Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben. Soon after that, we became dedicated to finding other rare breeds that also thrive in the New England environment.
During our search we came across the landrace Icelandics and were instantly drawn to their hardiness, history, and incredible diversity. From there, our program continued to grow with intentional pairing, selective breeding, and a strong focus on producing healthy, well-tempered birds.
We are proud to be MDAR certified meeting the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources standards for sanitation, biosecurity, and overall flock management.
